Survey on the Perception of National Board Examination based on Smart System in Korean Optician National Board Examination

Abstract
|
|
|
Purpose : To study the awareness of the Smart Based Test (SBT) on the national board examination from professors, opticians and students in optometry (ophthalmic optics).
Methods : We conducted a questionnaires survey for 171 people including professor, opticians and optometry students on the awareness with assessment of the written and the SBT consisting of multimedia questions.
Results : The perception of the SBT in the optometry group was found to be lower than that of the other health care professionals. However, 44.4% of the those responded that the paper-based test and the SBT will not be different, and 37.4 % of the those questioned and said that the SBT system will be better and 31.4 % of the respondents said that paper-based test will be better in Optician National Board Examination. The most positive aspects of smart system for examination have been found to be the best benefit to reduce the time required, and the positive aspects of multimedia questions have been effectively evaluated for their ability to perform in clinical fields. In addition, clinical experts were more likely to recognize that the ability of a candidate's clinical performance is more accurately assessed, and that it would help to perform the task on the clinics after graduation, and also that it was easier to conduct the assessment.
Conclusion : The questions on optional test used in written tests are mainly shown a reflection of the knowledge required to perform a task rather than the ability to solve a problem. Therefore, it is important to recognize the need for a transition to the SBT system reflected by the results of this study and to ensure that a study for feasibility is conducted continuously.
